Pelargir Helmet Ideas by RobbieMcSweeney Pelargir Helmet Ideas by RobbieMcSweeney
Pelargir I believe is a city that lies along the Anduin river. We'll be covering a unit from this city in this mod. What do you guys think? Kettle helm style or burgonet?

Definitely kettle; visual variety among Gondorian units is important, because contrary to the movies they had a more typical feudal army with zero standardization, in spite of their advanced culture.

I'm thinking kettle. while the looks very much like the normal Gondorian helmets, it just seems more apt with the kettle hat for mariners. it also creates a bit more visual variety for the units. Really love the Burgonet too. Maybe later down the line you can make it so that both helmets are used by the same unit!

Yeah, it seems like the kettle hat is popular, I think I'll have a go at both though. cheers!

Burgonet looks more Gondorian to me.The kettle seems too much Ponce de Leone for Middle Earth.

Both very good though.

Kettle I think. As mariners the strap would be essential to keep the helmet on during a storm, but also quickly taken off to avoid being weighted down if thrown overboard.

Kettle hat. I'd prefer a more medieval-looking approach to the LotR lore. Barbutes are a thing of the rich capital, so it can look more Italian in nature and therefore distinct. Outlying provinces could have some simper-looking gear at their disposal.

Both work well, it would depend on the role in which the soldiers are supposed to fight. A close formation might prefer the bourgonet due to better protection, while impeded hearing and restricted vision are less of a problem; soldiers fighting more individually, like skirmishers, could  prefer the kettle hat style.

Burgonet, all the way.  I think it more closely follows the visual aesthetics and design of the movies.  Pelargir is the #2 city in Gondor after Minas Tirith, and I think they would model their styling after MT as closely as possible.

See, as a port city I think the kettle hat would be more suitable for Pelargir. But I get the impression that the city is extremely wealthy, in which case the barbute would work better in my opinion. Overall though I think if not both then the kettle hat :D

Both designs are very well done but I need to know a bit more about the struckture of the city and the military force in that are to give you my opinion. For starters I would say the Burgonet Style ,because it covers most of the areas and is even a little bit practical but if we are to talk about some special unit Kettle hat might not be that bad either.

i agree with Konquistador on the Kettle :D even if this one (And it's what i like of it even more) rather than a regular kettle, looks a bit like those old carolingian helmets that were midway between a kettle and a morion :)

Kettle hat, definitively :)
Really like how you expand the style of the movie version.
